Trane Technologies has an exciting opportunity for an on-site position in our new Engineering & Technology Laboratory in Davidson, NC as a Lab Technician Intern. Your primary function in this entry-level position is to assist in building and validating facilities and sub-systems for laboratory testing to support product development for Commercial Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (CVHAC) Products and compressors. The role requires a high level of problem solving, troubleshooting, organization, and collaboration with other lab and engineering team members to ensure timely completion of projects.

Where is the work:

This position has been designated as onsite.

What you will do:

  • Work safely and maintain a safe work area in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Assist more senior technicians to install, troubleshoot, and validate lab devices and systems.
  • Assist with reading blueprints, manuals, or other specifications to determine installation or modification procedures
  • Assist in identifying, specifying, and ordering parts

What you will bring:

  • Currently and actively enrolled to receive a certificate or degree in a relevant technical field such as HVAC or electronics technical degree, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.

Key Competencies:

  • Mechanical aptitude. Experienced and comfortable with hand tools and power tools
  • Basic understanding of schematics, reading, and interpreting engineering drawings, technical reports, safety rules, operation, and maintenance instructions
  • Ability to help solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Experience working with PLC's and instrumentation is a plus
