Job Title: Manufacturing Technician-Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing Technician-Engineer to support our operations in Columbia, Missouri. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to sustainable packaging initiatives and the NAM Primary Packaging Roadmap. The role involves lower-level manufacturing/process engineering support with occasional travel to El Paso, TX. The position is based on a first shift schedule with no overtime expected, and may transition from temporary to full-time employment contingent on future applications and interviews.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with process and manufacturing teams to implement the NAM Primary Packaging Roadmap.
  • Conduct research and studies to identify the best sustainable packaging products for local site implementation, including coordinating formalized testing at laboratories.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, process, procurement, and other departments to implement new sustainable materials.
  • Lead the local team to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Research and procure new fixtures, tools, bins, workstations, etc., as needed per project.
  • Provide hyper care for new sustainable materials, continuously resolving issues with new implementations.
  • Document technical and generic specifications of the packaging process, including line layouts, station layouts, capacity and workload balancing, preferred component usage, etc.
  • Obtain plant acceptance and provide final sign-off on tools and processes for project deliverables while following the Schneider Performance System (SPS) principles.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing and/or process engineering.
  • Experience with component replenishment, kanban, and related material handling tasks.
  • Experience in a new product development environment or related stage gate process awareness.
  • Knowledge of verification and validation processes and approvals for new product development.
  • Proven ability to work successfully in a multicultural virtual environment across various functions such as design engineering, purchasing, quality, marketing, finance, and manufacturing operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or process engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in packaging and shipping processes and related equipment.
  • Experience in SAP production software.

Work Environment

The work environment is dynamic and involves collaboration with various departments to achieve sustainable packaging goals. The role requires travel to El Paso, TX, approximately 30% of the time. The position operates during the first shift hours from Monday to Friday, with no overtime expected. The interview process includes an initial round via Teams and a final onsite interview. The dress code is professional attire suitable for manufacturing and engineering settings.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $36.00/hr.
