As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) in Moderna’s Cloud Engineering and Operations organization, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and optimizing Moderna’s enterprise cloud infrastructure. Your work will directly enable secure, scalable, and stable digital platforms that underpin the company’s mission to deliver innovative mRNA medicines. This role, based in Warsaw, supports both cloud-native and hybrid systems with a DevOps mindset, contributing to global digital operations with resilience and agility. You’ll be relied upon to bring your automation-first philosophy while jumping in hands-on when needed. Success in this role means combining technical depth, operational acumen, and a collaborative spirit to drive reliability, scalability, and performance across Moderna’s enterprise platforms—all while embracing change and learning fast in a dynamic environment.

Here’s What You’ll Do

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Owning the reliability, resilience, and performance of cloud and hybrid platforms supporting Moderna’s global operations.
  • Collaborating across engineering and business teams to enhance infrastructure stability and reduce operational friction.
  • Driving automation efforts to optimize operations while ensuring system security and cost efficiency.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to legacy and new technology stacks aligned with best practices in DevOps.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Decomposing complex infrastructure problems into actionable tasks and delivering effective solutions.
  • Applying rigorous engineering, testing, and operational excellence standards across the organization.
  • Executing change requests and participating in planned maintenance to ensure robust platform health.
  • Participating in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation alongside peers to support business continuity and critical incident response.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technology or scientific field OR 5 years of equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 1+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language, such as Python, Ruby, PowerShell, etc.
  • 2+ years of job-related experience in a non-internship role.
  • 1+ years of experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • Experience with modern full-stack software applications both built or off the shelf.
  • Experience documenting technical systems, user workflows, and user requirements.
  • Experience with traditional IT infrastructure as well as the Cloud, preferably AWS.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience designing, building, and deploying complex and performant (reliable and scalable) software/system solutions in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of and advocation of engineer practices and patterns for the full life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and production operations.
