Our SEC Reporting department seeks a senior technical accountant or technical accounting manager. This role is responsible for quarterly and annual financial reporting, researching and implementing new accounting pronouncements and special projects to comply with Securities and Exchange Commission rules and regulations.

This position is based at our Headquarters in Fairfield, OH. Many departments at our Headquarters offer hybrid work options, empowering associates to work from home several days a week. Depending on your role and responsibilities, hybrid options may be available.

The pay range for the associate accountant position is $110,000 - $150,000 annually. The pay determination is based on the applicant’s education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.

Be ready to:

  • drive The Cincinnati Insurance Companies towards industry leadership in accounting by proactively identifying relevant rules, standards and pronouncements for GAAP compliance
  • lead the technical accounting research, documention and interpretation of new pronouncements and new transactions
  • collaborate with corporate finance leaders, industry groups and peer companies to determine best practices for the implementation of new accounting pronouncements
  • monitor FASB, SEC and other reporting regulations at international, federal, state and local levels
  • assists in the development and implementation of internal controls to ensure compliance with SOX 404 requirements
  • prepare SEC tables and disclosures with accuracy, timeliness and compliance
  • contribute to the quarterly and annual SEC reporting requirements, including Form 10-Q, Form 10-K, and various 8-K’s
  • review and update the SEC Reporting Policies and Procudures manual to ensure current and effective practices
  • review of financial materials provided to rating agencies and investors for accuracy and completeness
  • conduct goodwill and intangible asset analysis to support financial reporting
  • utilize accounting research software systems as a power user to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • lead and participate in accounting projects and analysis to support senior and executive management
  • assist with monthly closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • resolve and answer internal and external audit inquiries promptly and effectively
  • perform ad hoc analysis as needed

Be equipped with:

  • leadership skills developed through public accounting experience
  • the ability to use accounting principles for financial statement preparation
  • excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • strong attention to detail, organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with senior and executive leadership
  • proficiency in Microsoft® Excel and PowerPoint
  • good presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • the ability to work independently or collaboratively without hesitation to ask questions
  • an aptitude to lead and embrace change
  • thorough understanding of GAAP

You’ve earned:

  • a bachelor’s degree in accounting (required)
  • five to ten years of accounting experience in financial reporting of a public company
  • an active CPA certification
  • previous public accounting experience
  • experience establishing controls around financial reporting
