Program Duration: June 9 - August 8, 2025

Hours: Monday-Friday, approximately 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Position Overview:

As a Recreation Aide, you will provide structured, age-appropriate health and nutrition education and activities for youth across several locations in Tioga County during the summer months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead discussions on good decision-making and model positive behavior.
  • Plan weekly themed programs and secure necessary materials and equipment.
  • Prepare and submit monthly program reports.
  • Guide participants in creating healthy snack options to sample and take home.
  • Actively practice behaviors associated with SH Service Excellence expectations: smile and greet everyone enthusiastically, treat everyone with respect, dignity, and C.A.R.E.2.
  • Be an ambassador for UPMC Susquehanna, providing the best C.A.R.E.2 for our patients.
  • Intervene appropriately in situations that arise among program participants.
  • Assess any injuries that may occur and create a plan of care for minor injuries.
  • Assist Summer Feeding staff with the distribution of meals at program sites.
  • Adhere to all organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain attendance records of participants.
  • Incorporate leading evidence-based practices in quality and safety into everyday work.
  • Commit to high-quality, safe work and encourage others to uphold similar standards.
  • Identify processes and systems that could lead to inefficient practices, unsafe conditions, errors, or adverse events.
  • Avoid shortcuts to ensure quality and safety measures are not circumvented.
  • Encourage patient and family involvement in processes involving patient safety.
  • Speak up with other service partners to ensure high quality and safety.
  • Report serious events and incidents per policy.
  • Assume responsibility for personal development and education.

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Valid driver's license required
