Position Overview:

Our client in West Hartford, CT is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join their growing accounting team. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and experience managing invoicing, collections, and cash applications in a high-volume environment. Key Responsibilities:

• Generate and issue accurate customer invoices in a timely manner
• Monitor customer accounts and perform proactive collections on past-due balances
• Apply customer payments (checks, ACH, wires, credit cards) to appropriate accounts
• Reconcile AR ledger and resolve discrepancies in billing or payments
• Communicate with customers regarding outstanding invoices, payment terms, and disputes
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date AR records, including notes and follow-up actions
• Assist with monthly AR aging reports and cash flow forecasts
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes related to AR
• Collaborate with internal departments (Sales, Customer Service, Operations) to resolve account issues

Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5 years of experience in Accounts Receivable or general accounting
• Strong understanding of AR principles and best practices
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Great Plains a plus)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with others
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage the full-cycle cash posting experience
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
