Position Title: Grounds Technician - Temporary Summer Worker
Division: Operations
Reports To: Maintenance Director & Grounds Crew Leader
Salary Schedule: Hourly - $12/hr, Non-Benefited
This position is not full-time. It is “on-call” and as needed, and there is no guaranteed number of days of employment. Temporary workers are not eligible to draw unemployment wages. [Campbell v. Poythress, 216 Georgia Appeals 834 (1995)]
Essential Duties:
- Take direction from Grounds Crew Lead and accurately complete all assigned work in a timely manner.
- Promote good relations and display a positive image with customers, the public, and peers.
- Complete and submit all paperwork as required.
- Maintain the proper parts inventory on the district vehicle to meet the majority of assigned maintenance work requests.
- Take proper care of, and maintain, district vehicles, tools, and equipment necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position, as well as to ensure maximum usage.
- Plan, stage, and complete the cleaning, inspection, maintenance, and installation of all types of equipment assigned to the trade.
- Initiate and complete assigned projects in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
- Immediately report any issues that may have an impact on school or employee safety.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
- Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
- Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, kneeling, and sitting.
- Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds, and negotiating stairs and ladders.
- Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
