Title: Digital transformation applied to the development phase of mechanical plant engineering projects with specific focus on HVAC systems.

Duration: 8 months, location at Jacobs Italia S.p.A. offices, located in Cologno Monzese, via Alessandro Volta, 16 and at construction sites located elsewhere.

Internship program and activities:

The intern will acquire knowledge of the organizational structure and processes underlying the company's operations and, in particular, knowledge of the structure and working tools and procedures for the development of HVAC projects via 3D model (Revit-Revitzo-Navisworks) of the Mechanical Department. Having acquired the above fundamentals, he/she will be involved in the process of updating and improving 3D procedures through the implementation of new digital tools such as ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud) and Power BI.

The intern will be actively involved in the following activities:

  • Study and analysis of the Quality Management System (QMS) procedures of the Mechanical Department currently in place;
  • Implementation of a specific procedure for 3D model validation;
  • Definition of workflows for the proper use of the ACC tool and active support in the implementation and training of the resources involved;
  • Implementation of new technologies with the help of AI in the creation of scripts dedicated to specific HVAC issues (eg. Pressure Drops Calcs, Model Input/Output, etc.).
  • Liaising with internal staff

Project activities will take place under the direct guidance of the Mechanical Department Manager, with the support of the Mechanical Department BIM Manager.

Internship Training Objectives:

The internship is proposed as a fundamental and decisive step in the trainee's professional training, as it provides an opportunity to apply his or her technical-specialist skills in the implementation and resolution of practical issues and problems that are fundamental in the current development of HVAC projects.

It represents an opportunity for development of didactic learning related to the plant engineering world (HVAC oriented) with the possibility to concretely see the results of the study phases through 3D visualizations, but also an opportunity to sharpen one's personal problem solving, relationship management and teamworking skills.

In summary, the internship poses as a training objective that the trainee will acquire:

  • a good technical-business training;
  • a knowledge of management processes;
  • specialized working tools to operate in the area of HVAC plant project development;
  • new specific software skills (Revit-Revitzo-Navisworks-ACC);
  • strengthening of personal and interpersonal skills;
  • operational experience at a multinational company.

We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery.
