R&D Manager
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to successful project results in our Premier Products R&D team, which supports several industry leading brands including Ty-Duct®, Ty-Rap®, Sta-Kon® and Color-Keyed®. Each day, you will support our new product design and development of next generation products, from ideation/concept design to market launch, with full accountability of design, development, testing & validation, and new product introduction. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions. The work model for the role is: Hybrid This role is contributing to the ABB Installation Products division in Memphis, TN. You will be mainly accountable for: • Leading strategic product development projects in collaboration with product engineers, advanced technology specialists, and production leaders. • Functioning as the SME in product design including mechanical, electromechanical, device configuration and assembly, and manufacturability for assigned product lines. • Performing detailed part design for a variety of materials (metals, plastics, etc.) and functions (structural, cosmetic, dynamic, etc.) • Using analytical and data driven problem solving skills to develop robust product solutions. • Designing high and low volume products utilizing manufacturing methods including Injection Molding, Metal Stamping, Casting, Extrusion (metal and plastic), Machining, and Additive manufacturing. • Conducting dimensional tolerance analysis to ensure design functionality and manufacturing capability. • Preparing engineering documentation including drawings, BOM, material specifications, instruction sheets, quality control plans, etc. • Providing project progress updates and facilitating new product design review presentations to executive stakeholders, as required.
