Regional Product Application Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Regional Product Application Engineer, you will be the technical expert supporting customers and partners for a dedicated product portfolio. You will collaborate closely with sales, marketing, and R&D teams to deliver tailored solutions, resolve technical challenges, and drive product success.

This position will support the Integrated Circuit Solutions (ICS) business group which includes power and signal path semiconductors. Regional responsibility for this position is Taiwan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Customer Support:

  • Promote ICS portfolio to our customers’ technical community alongside sales, marketing, and/or channel partners
  • Lead design-in efforts, from the technical perspective, for key customers once a project intersection point is identified
  • Analyze customer requirements, design schematics, and troubleshoot system-level issues
  • Assist in developing reference designs, application notes, and simulation models (e.g., SPICE, PLECS) to accelerate customer design cycles
  • Provide post-sales technical support

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

  • Work alongside regional marketing manager to identify customer targets based on existing product portfolio, R&D roadmap plans, and end customer’s end equipment / business size
  • Support regional sales teams with technical training, product presentations, and competitive analysis.
  • Work with R&D to translate customer feedback into product improvement or new feature development.

Product Demonstration & Validation:

  • Conduct hands-on lab testing, bench evaluations, and failure analysis for customer prototypes.
  • Validate product performance against industry standards and customer-specific requirements.

Documentation & Training:

  • Create technical collateral, including whitepapers, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Deliver webinars and workshops to educate customers and distributors.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Hard Skills:

  • Capable of understanding technical aspects of electronic systems, from the customers’ applications down to product features
  • Ability to interpret schematic diagrams, circuit simulations, (SPICE) modelling, PCB design, etc.
  • Semiconductor device physics and electrical engineering knowledge
  • Excellent analytical skills and structured work approach

Soft Skills:

  • Strong customer focus and service orientation
  • Intercultural awareness and ability to work in international teams
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to prepare detailed technical documents as well as high level presentations
  • Interface with field engineers and customers to solve problems and encourage the next generation of design wins
  • Influence technical decisions, and be open to ideas from others
  • Diplomatic with customers, able to persuade with strong arguments

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, power electronics, or related field.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, thermal analyzers) and simulation tools (LTspice, MATLAB).
    • Familiarity with PCB layout best practices and EMI/EMC compliance.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
    • Fluency in [Region-specific language(s)] and English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in electrical engineering, power electronics, or related field
  • Experience: 1-5+ years in applications engineering, field support, or product development in semiconductor/power electronics industries.
  • Experience with automotive or industrial power systems.
  • Understanding of power distribution architectures (e.g., DC/DC converters, battery management systems) and protection mechanisms (OVP, OCP, ESD).

Location: Taipei, Taiwan

  • Up to 50% regional travel to customer sites, trade shows, and company facilities.

KPIs:

  • Meeting annual design-in goals (also called future revenue stream pipeline)
  • Input for Product Roadmap based on Application Insights

Output (Deliverables):

  • Technical Presentations, trainings, documentations (in-bound and out-bound)
  • Publications (e.g. conference paper, exhibitions, Blogs, etc)
  • Demonstrators, eval kits, circuit designs
  • Accurate Customer Requirement Specifications
