Minimum Qualifications
Position Summary
This position will work both indoors and outdoors doing primarily field and laboratory work for peach, blueberry and grape research projects. Fieldwork includes, but is not limited to, helping to plant, maintain, harvest and process field studies. Work in the field and greenhouse will be done in hot conditions. Laboratory work includes, but is not limited to, processing samples, dissection, extraction, and others. The employee receives specific work instructions at the beginning of each new task and the work is closely supervised until the employee is capable of consistently performing the task.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
High school or equivalent combination of education and work experience in horticulture or a related area, other training will be provided as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Work with or without supervision.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is desired, and Excel spreadsheet data entry is also expected.
Physical Demands
Bend and lift up to 50 pounds. Working in a laboratory for multiple hours a day. Duties also require intermittent out of town travel to research plots during the workday.
