Your impact

As a Lead Storm Drainage Design Engineer for our designated Design-Build practice, you’ll have opportunity to provide leadership on a variety of exciting, career-defining infrastructure projects including some of the region’s leading large-scale transportation projects. Our Bellevue-based team is seeking a Lead Storm Drainage Design Engineer to work on Design-Build projects. In this role, you will be joining the premiere Design-Build team in Washington state, working on complex design-build highway and fish passage projects for Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) and others. Design-Build projects provide the opportunity to work across a large, multidisciplinary, in-house delivery team and the contractor, allowing you to see your designs constructed shortly after plans are released. This position offers ample opportunity for career growth as you lead our teams and support their development. As a Lead Storm Drainage Design Engineer, you will be responsible for stormwater design and drainage design revisions made throughout the duration of the Design-Build contracts. You will lead our drainage design team and be focused on production of final design plans and calculations that meet WSDOT standards and Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements. You will lead the team in producing the drainage design on highway and fish passage projects. Work may range from preliminary design for a proposal to final construction documents, including writing and assembling stormwater and hydraulic reports. Typical activities may include performing hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, providing detailed calculations, and producing construction plans, and drainage reports as well as coordinating with contractors, owners, and other discipline leads. You will also mentor entry- and mid-level staff. In this role, you will have the opportunity to exercise judgment and make recommendations in the development and creation of storm drainage plans for complex, multidisciplinary Design-Build projects. Join our team and help us serve our local communities while contributing toward the collective regional progress on fish passage improvements as well as this growing project delivery model.

We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery. We empower employees with our hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations enabling them to deliver their best work.
