It’s a Mission, not Just a Job. As the Technical Quote Lead, you are primarily responsible for the lead new business pursuits/quotes for new products and coordinate with all functions (Customer Regional Engineering, Hardware & Platform Software teams, Product Validation, Program & Commodity Purchasing and Manufacturing) and lead & coordinate associated internal engineering activities. You shall have a clear understanding of why, what, and when of an assigned product and shall communicate its story and the business value concisely to all the stakeholders.

How You Will Spend Your Days

Technical lead for Customer request for information (RFI) & Quotations:

Lead multi-functional global engineering internal team

Establish & direct engineering team supporting pursuits/quotes within new product line

Drive review of new products, Mechanical, HW & SW requirements through engineering team. Ensure all assumptions & exceptions are captured and compliance sheets are developed for high level items

Coordinate technical deliverables to support quote timeline

Drive development of optimal/consistent designs. Work with team to review & optimize BOM cost. Drive identification of VA/VE and design re-use opportunities

Quote documentation: ensuring timely completion of quote documentation such as Customer technical design review (TDR), Bill of Material (BOM), Design & Engineering development assumptions, Manufacturing assumptions, engineering inputs (effort & costs)

Work with Product Management & commercial team to derive cost targets and perform read across/walks from other quotes to triangulate

Identify long lead items like supplier quotes and kick those activities off ahead of RFx.

Work with Manufacturing & Purchasing to determine & align on make/buy strategy early in RFx process or pre-RFx.

Work with Purchasing to review supplier quotes and triangulate with similar designs.

Work with Manufacturing involving New products Technology Group to ensure we have an optimized assembly process and manufacturing cost

Work with Chief Engineer/delivery team to develop delivery timeline & plan

Lead for development of pursuit specific demo properties

Ensure process compliance during the quote process

Support customer milestones and ensure compliance to requirements

Support customer specific product demonstrations (Tech shows, etc)

Demonstrated skills and abilities as might be expected from a person with:

Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Good communication skills; verbal and written with global cultural sensitivity

Strong Customer presentation skills

Ability to understand hardware, mechanical and software design details

High Level system level analysis

Understanding of and experience with Automotive Electronics domain

Good MS office skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Project and Sharepoint)

Ability to work within a constrained deadline (quotes are tightly time bound).

Ability to work closely with suppliers for part selections and negotiations.

A Plus – deep understanding of commercial/business/financial measurement (NPV, IRR, EBIT etc)

Self-motivated with ability to lead a global team toward a common goal

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering / Electronics Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related field with equivalent experience.

Minimum 10+ years of Automotive Electronics / Mechatronics Product Launch experience
