The New York Post is seeking an experienced national Politics Reporter (Tues-Sat) to join our Sunday news team in Washington, DC. This full-time position offers a unique blend of enterprise reporting and fast-paced breaking news coverage.

During the week, you’ll develop and produce exclusive, agenda-setting stories with deep political insight, and on Saturdays, you’ll switch gears to cover breaking political news at full sprint for both web and print. Working alongside a close-knit team of top journalists, you’ll help shape the Sunday paper and Saturday digital coverage, contribute to investigative stories, report on government corruption, and produce bold, tabloid-style journalism that resonates with millions of readers.

Responsibilities:

• Break national political news with exclusive insights and sharp reporting
• Develop in-depth enterprise stories that set the news agenda
• Leverage deep sources inside and outside Washington, DC, to drive original reporting
• Write in the unmistakable New York Post voice for both web and print
• Mine data and public records for compelling story leads (a plus)
• Pitch and execute stories that resonate with our audience, from hard-hitting investigations to quirky, viral content
• Collaborate with NYC-based editors and reporters to produce must-read coverage
• Contribute to our legendary Page 1 headlines

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in journalism or a related field preferred
• 5+ years of newsroom experience, preferably in political reporting
• Extensive sources within national politics, government, and DC power circles
• Proven ability to report and write breaking news and long-form stories in lively, engaging prose
• Strong instincts for story selection and a keen understanding of what resonates with our audience
• Experience using public records, datasets, or investigative tools (preferred)
• Team player who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative newsroom

Pay Range: $70,000 - $110,000
