Position Summary

With direct supervision, the Engineer Intern is responsible for engineering work assignments on a part-time basis while enrolled in a university degree program. Assignments are intended to provide entry-level experience and training related to operational functions, interaction with customers, and exposure to products, all within the Parker business structure.

Responsibilities

• Assist with special projects and/or design work to support department objectives
• Assemble and test prototypes with a preliminary analysis of test results
• Consistently apply established engineering practices, standards, and documentation methods
• Compile cost estimates of design alternatives
• Generate and maintain documentation for product engineering processes
• Utilize drafting experience to support new product release, product improvements and product line extensions
• Collaborate with other departments for component sourcing and engineering qualification
• Assist with troubleshooting of engineering lab test equipment and test programs
• Design and specify engineering lab test equipment and coordinate internally or externally to implement test lab upgrades
• Use procurement and sample request processes to meet project requirements

Qualifications

• Full time sophomore, junior or senior enrollment status in an accredited university’s engineering program (mechanical / manufacturing / manufacturing engineering technology).
• Available to work 20 hours per week during school year and 40 hours per week during the summer
• Good spatial visualization
• Attention to exacting detail
• Ability to apply basic scientific knowledge
• Critical thinking
• Exposure to manufacturing environment a plus
• Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the job typically acquired through one or more years of related experience

Pay rate is determined by enrollment status, but starts at $18.00 per hour.
