About The Opportunity

The Transport Planning & Mobility Solutions at Jacobs is one of the most successful in Ireland and the UK, with a varied client base and strong pipeline of work, alongside supporting project teams across the globe. Our local team is involved in a range of exciting and innovative projects covering all elements of transport planning including traffic modelling, economic appraisal, active modes, public transport, traffic engineering, policy & strategy formation and business case development. We are currently assisting with the BusConnects program for Ireland’s National Transport Authority in addition to active travel schemes for Dublin City Council.

We are looking for a Senior Traffic Engineer to be based in our Dublin office with regular attendance to the client office in Dublin City Centre. You will provide support / assistance in the production of the tender design for the civil engineering aspects of the project. Other daily duties may include drawings, schedules of quantities, calculations, compliance documentation and contract documentation. 

BusConnects is a strategic national-level intervention for Ireland that will enhance sustainable transportation and the environment by upgrading walking, cycling and bus infrastructure in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, and Waterford. 

We have been appointed by the National Transport Authority (NTA) as their Client Partner to deliver Dublin’s BusConnects infrastructure. This will include providing programme management and multi-disciplinary expertise over a 10-year programme to deliver 12 schemes comprising 230 kilometres of continuous bus priority corridors and 200 kilometres of cycle paths and improved pedestrian facilities from procurement through to handover of this new infrastructure. The role would suit someone from a civil engineering background with specific experience on highways/roads.

Here's what you'll need

  • To be degree qualified in a relevant discipline (or equivalent)
  • Experience in the transport planning field with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects
  • Working towards Chartered status or other relevant professional qualification e.g. Engineers Ireland, CIHT, TPP, CEng etc
  • A desire to develop your technical skills and the ability work independently in the field of Traffic Engineering
  • Experience in the Traffic Engineering field with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects, particularly in an urban environment, active travel scheme's, cycle networks, mass transit and bus infrastructure
