As an Electrical Engineer for our team, you will prepare detailed electrical power systems design for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump station rehabilitation, and greenfield projects with minimum supervision. You will work with project managers, design staff including electrical engineers, cost estimators, designers, drafters, and other engineering disciplines to provide quality work on schedule and within budget.

At Jacobs, we’re transforming intangible ideas into innovative solutions designing the future – today. As a Senior Electrical Engineer supporting the West Central region, you will too. Our team of multidisciplinary experts is seeking a driven senior professional who can utilize their design expertise to dream big ideas on various and complex projects needing electrical design and construction support. 

We’d rely on your collaboration skills to coordinate interdisciplinary work for overall project success as well as encourage you to bring your fresh ideas to work every day. You’ll prepare and manage detailed electrical power systems design for water and wastewater treatment facilities. You’ll work with a knowledgeable and supportive team as you develop One-Line Diagrams, Motor Control Diagrams, Panelboard Schedules, Conduit Routing, Load Calculations, and Voltage Drop Calculations as well coordinate with electric utility company for new services as needed. In addition to preparation of contract drawings during the design phase, the role will require writing and editing electrical specifications, selecting equipment, electrical systems and devices. In the construction phase, the role will require reviewing submittals, RFIs, change orders, preparation of record drawings, conduct site visits, inspections and participate in start-up activities. You will be a part and parcel of electrical safety in design and conducting arc flash analyses and other electrical studies for our clients.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) status in Colorado.
  • 12+ years working experience in the water/wastewater industry in an electrical engineering role, designing and delivering municipal projects via different delivery methods, including design-bid-build, design-build, and other alternatives.
  • Experience in phased project deliverables, including design reports, technical memoranda, drawings, and specifications for power distribution applications, including calculations of available short circuit current, voltage drop, load flow, short circuit, coordination, arc flash, harmonic distortion, power flow and load flow, power factor, equipment-, conduit- and conductor-sizing, electrical plans, schematics, and schedules.
  • Design electrical systems including low- and medium-voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency power systems, UPS, and batteries.
  • Experience in equipment sizing, grounding, and relay coordination.
  • Lead in preparing contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for complex projects from planning studies to final design.
  • Deep competence in performing field visits and conducting comprehensive site investigations for clients.
  • Provide services during construction including submittal reviews, response to Contractor’s request for information, review and approval of change orders, and preparation of record drawings.
  • Expert knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering and design concepts, principles, best practices, codes, and guidelines related to electrical engineering industry.
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates in the water market.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, NFPA 820, NFPA 780, and other codes from IEEE, NEMA, ANSI, UL and other code-authoring bodies.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; and SKM PTW, ETAP and EasyPower for modeling electrical systems.
  • Motivation and initiative, attention to detail, work productively without supervision, and ability to multitask on different project teams.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management, including mentoring junior staff, leading teams, and working and thriving in a team environment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across multiple office locations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to quality of deliverables.

Ideally, you'll also have: 

  • Proficiency in using AGi32 or Visual Lighting Software.
  • Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Revit , and MicroStation.
  • Field investigation, construction site inspection and startup experience, including electrical system testing and commissioning experience.
  • Familiarity with IEEE color book series.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and interact with clients.

129,400.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

195,690.00

The base salary range for this position is $129,400.00 to $195,690.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
