We are currently seeking a motivated Electronics Maintenance Technician III to join our talented team. In this role, you will handle complex electronic systems, including troubleshooting, repair, calibration, and preventive maintenance, often with supervisory responsibilities and project management.

Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.

This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering; changes.
  • Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.
  • Identify, diagnose, and repair malfunctions in complex electronic equipment and systems with Navigation experience preferred.
  • Calibrate and perform preventive maintenance on electronic equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Conduct thorough testing and evaluation of electronic systems and components to ensure they meet established specifications.
  • Manage projects, distribute workloads, and ensure tasks are completed timely and accurately.
  • May involve supervising other technicians and providing technical guidance.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and testing procedures.
  • Install, upgrade, and modify electronic equipment and systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and engineering instructions for assembling and repairing electronic units.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications, or four (4) year electronics apprentice program.
  • Formal electronics training, to include: Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors.
  • Eight (8) years of practical experience, to include: Electronics Repair, Maintenance, Installation and Checkout.
  • Two (2) years of experience, to include: supervision, and shop practices.
  • Three (3) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair and installation.
  • Six (6) years of experience with US Navy Navigation Systems.
  • Note: Experience may be concurrent.
  • Strong understanding of electronic principles, circuits, and components for Navigation systems.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Proficiency in using various test equipment and measuring instruments.
  • Skilled in repairing and maintaining electronic equipment and systems.
  • Ability to manage projects, allocate resources, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Understanding of electrical safety procedures and practices.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Required Security Clearance:

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
  • Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
