You will lead various transversal Risk projects spanning all SCOR’s P&C activities, involving (but not limited to) scenario development, materiality assessments, business referrals, and Risk analyses presented to senior management at quarterly Group and Board risk committees. You might also participate in some of SCOR’s legal entities Risk tasks as needs arise. 

These missions will be performed in close coordination with the SCOR P&C business unit, and in collaboration with colleagues from other Risk coverage teams (Life, Financial or Operational Risk), from other teams within the CRO domain such as Central Pricing, Prudential Affairs or Risk capital, and from Group teams such as Finance or Sustainability. The position involves contacts with senior SCOR colleagues from different teams.

Risk analyses

  • Lead or contribute to Risk analyses for the SCOR COMEX and Board of Directors, liaising with senior stakeholders across SCOR
  • These analyses can be specific to particular lines of business, transversal risks, and/or business strategy, and will include a Risk opinion as well as recommendations for mitigation actions.

Business referrals

  • Analyze business cases referrals (specific underwriting or retrocession transactions), forming the Risk opinion on these cases, including conditions or recommendations for case acceptance
  • Review P&C strategic business initiatives, provide a Risk opinion allowing to mitigate risks in strategy execution

Scenarios

  • Develop scenarios allowing comprehensive quantification of various risks, such as Cyber, Terrorism… to be regularly presented at Group and Board risk committees, and also used for other purposes such as ORSA reports
  • Contribute to climate change and sustainability-related analysis and reports
  • Contribute to Emerging risks monitoring and relevant scenario development

Other ad-hoc and specific duties

  • Assist SCOR’s legal entities on various Risk tasks as needed
  • Lead or contribute to various other tasks, for example answer to specific supervisory requests

Required Experience & Competences

Education

  • Master’s degree in mathematics, Economics, Actuarial or equivalent. 

Experience

  • At least 10 years in the P&C (re)insurance industry, with increasing levels of responsibility/accountability, in a business or risk management -oriented role.

Personal Competences

  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, ability to disaggregate business topics into risk components.
  • Ability to see the “big picture” whilst making the difference between important and less important details
  • Appetite to handle various topics and get involved in new subjects with autonomy
  • Ability to maintain close relations with other SCOR stakeholders from various seniority levels whilst keeping a Risk view
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills, keeping messages sharp and concise
  • Established organizational and project management skills, with collaborative attitude and team spirit
