Jacobs is on the lookout for Associate Mechanical Engineer’s to join our thriving ANZ Water Infrastructure sector based in Brisbane. This is a full-time permanent role, 40 hours per week.

You will provide mentorship and support to junior and Global Integrated Delivery team members, whilst taking on client-facing responsibilities, nurturing key relationships and maximising work-winning activities to expand our client and project portfolios.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver engineering solutions with outstanding technical and commercial results across the water sector including storage, conveyance, treatment (water and wastewater) and emerging technologies.
  • Actively mentor junior team members and manage workload distribution within tasks.
  • Foster client relationships and technical leadership.

Your Expertise:

  • Proficient in water and/or wastewater treatment and/or conveyance infrastructure, from planning to commissioning. 
  • Around 10 years’ experience in water and wastewater infrastructure design, with the ability to work with and coordinate multiple engineering disciplines, including those with some members located throughout Australia or internationally.
  • Extensive knowledge of safety in design and relevant industry codes and standards relevant to the Australian water industry. 
  • Demonstrated experience on multi-disciplinary projects, including participation in and facilitation of standard design meetings and workshops (progress design meetings, safety in design meetings and workshops etc).
  • Ability to drive team excellence and delivery of quality solutions that meet client expectations.
  • Technical specialist within cross-disciplinary knowledge and application.
  • Mentors and guides junior team members in their own technical development.
  • Foster strong cross-disciplinary relationships within Jacobs and our partners.
  • Uphold Jacobs internal processes, including periodic reporting on project progress, financials, quality etc to keep the business well informed of progression and risks.

Here's what you'll need

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in mechanical engineering.
  • Around 10 years experience with extensive water and wastewater infrastructure design experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of water industry standards, codes, and best practices, as well as a diverse understanding of the impact of construction/maintenance practicalities on design.
  • Excellent task, design and project management, as well as client relationship skills.
  • Outstanding technical communication and report writing abilities.

About the Team 

The Jacobs water business has water infrastructure and water resources capability in every major city around Australia working across a multitude of markets such as Utilities, Government, Transport, Resources, and Energy Transitioning to name a few.

Our team is currently working on projects that have a lasting enduring positive impact on our communities such as advisory services for new water sources for agriculture, flood modelling and engineering services to enable greater connectivity, innovative space saving wastewater sludge treatment projects, and major desalination plants in response to our drying climate.
