Position Summary

We are looking for a highly experienced Principal AI Engineer with deep expertise in AI/ML, Large Language Models (LLMs), and scalable service architectures. In this role, you will define the technical vision for integrating AI-driven solutions into our loan and lease servicing platform, ensuring reliability, security, and efficiency at scale. You will collaborate closely with leadership, product, and engineering teams to develop AI-powered automation, intelligent decision-making systems, and natural language processing (NLP) capabilities.

As a Principal AI Engineer, you will drive cutting-edge AI implementations, lead mission-critical AI initiatives, and shape the evolution of our servicing solutions to support business growth and industry leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop AI-driven servicing solutions, leveraging LLMs, NLP, and machine learning models to enhance automation, decision-making, and customer interactions.
  • Design and optimize AI model pipelines, ensuring scalability, security, and regulatory compliance in financial services applications.
  • Lead AI strategy and technical direction, collaborating with engineering, data teams, and product teams to align AI initiatives with business objectives.
  • Drive AI model training, fine-tuning, and deployment for use cases such as conversational AI.
  • Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector search, and embeddings to improve AI-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure AI system observability, interpretability, and fairness, applying MLOps best practices for robust AI deployment and monitoring.
  • Evaluate and integrate third-party AI models and APIs.
  • Mentor engineers on AI/ML best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure AI solutions meet regulatory standards, such as SOC 2, PCI-DSS, and AI ethics guidelines.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years working with AI/ML solutions and LLMs.
  • Strong experience in AI model development, fine-tuning, and deployment using frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers, or OpenAI APIs.
  • Expertise in .NET (C#) and/or Python, with experience in building AI-driven backend systems.
  • Experience working with vector databases, embeddings, and semantic search.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning principles, prompt engineering, and AI inference optimization.
  • Experience deploying AI models in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP), leveraging serverless, Kubernetes, or GPU-based infrastructures.
  • Familiarity with MLOps, CI/CD for AI pipelines, and AI observability tools (Weights & Biases, MLflow, or SageMaker).
  • Knowledge of financial services applications, including risk assessment, fraud detection, and AI-driven process automation.
  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive AI strategy at scale.

Bonus Points

  • Experience working with LLM architectures (GPT, Claude, LLaMA, or open-source alternatives).
  • Hands-on experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and knowledge graphs.
  • Experience with SMS and Voice based conversational AI using OpenAI, Google, xAI models/APIs.
  • Experience integrating AI with microservices and event-driven architectures.
