Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Senior Electrical Design Engineer for Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. The Gigafactory design team drives to create the factory of the future by overseeing the design of cutting-edge large-scale equipment and utility systems to support highly innovating manufacturing processes.

What You’ll Do

• Co-participate in initial detailed design development and carefully balance product specifications, equipment and component requirements, layout complexity, cost, quality and lead-time limits.
• Lead design and coordination of medium voltage power distribution throughout site including both underground and above ground installations
• Knowledge of both medium and low voltage (MV and LV) switching procedure and operation
• HV/MV switchyard design development, coordination with public utility and HV line design.
• MV switchgears, transformers, LV main switchgears and LV main- and sub-distribution panels as well as secondary systems, like protection, control, interlock, and communication systems
• Medium voltage and low voltage breaker coordination, selectivity, developing time-coordination curves, and load flow studies
• Dimensioning and technical parameters for power distribution systems, equipment, and components
• Understanding of controls for lighting systems, both indoors and outdoors
• Capable of designing schematics and layouts of power supply systems, equipment, and distribution panels with single lines, wiring diagrams, as well as definition and technical data of components and cables
• Coordination of underground electrical routing with other site utilities such as piping and manage contractors to optimally execute scopes of work
• Participate in Tesla specification and standard creation
• Factory acceptance tests of MV switchgears and Transformers stations
• Closely work with external stakeholders and other teams like construction, quality, testing and commissioning

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor/Master’s degree in Electrical or Construction Engineering, or evidence of exceptional ability and 5 plus years of work experience in the similar field.
• Managing external and internal stakeholder, proficiency with both medium voltage and low voltage electrical power distribution, lighting distribution systems, grounding/lightning protection, and very low voltage systems, like IT passive infrastructure, fire alarm and surveillance systems
• Knowledge of German projects is nice to have (either commercial, residential or industrial projects). Revit, VDE, DIN knowledge is also needed.
• Certificate for Fire alarm system design according to DIN 14675 would be a plus
• Industrial building experience is nice to have, but not a must
• Excellent communication skills, preferably in both German and English
