The Newcomer Youth Summer Academy (NYSA) is a six-week program focusing on preparing newly arrived refugee youth to succeed at their grade level in the New York City public school system. Up to 130 students from ages 5 – 21 from over 20 countries will participate in academic, creative arts, physical education, and life skills classes. Field Trips are held on Fridays.
The Graphic Designer will design and put together NYSA Yearbook, working in collaboration with the Yearbook Coordinator and volunteer NYSA Photographer(s). The Graphic Designer will work part-time as needed on-site at the Summer Academy and participate in project meetings at the IRC in NY office. The Graphic Designer will work collaboratively with the Yearbook Coordinator and Photographers, assist with yearbook responsibilities, and meet the required yearbook deadlines.

1. Strengthen expertise in taking a graphic design project from concept to deliverable
2. Learn about the creative needs of nonprofit humanitarian and social service agencies and how to meet those needs
3. Practice developing, refining and executing a concept that exemplifies a defined theme and values
