Enphase Energy

Description

Enphase Energy is a global energy technology company and leading provider of solar, battery, and electric vehicle charging products. Founded in 2006, Enphase transformed the solar industry with our revolutionary microinverter technology, which turns sunlight into a safe, reliable, resilient, and scalable source of energy to power our lives. Today, the Enphase Energy System helps people make, use, save, and sell their own power. Enphase is also one of the fastest growing and innovative clean energy companies in the world, with approximately 80 million products installed across more than 160 countries.

We are building teams that are designing, developing, and manufacturing next-generation energy technologies and our work environment is fast-paced, fun and full of exciting new projects.

If you are passionate about advancing a more sustainable future, this is the perfect time to join Enphase!

About the role:

Working in our India-based team, you will lead the Mechanical Engineering testing: planning, performing, analysing and reporting of design verification testing. You will perform testing with in-house equipment and at external test labs to complete the testing according to the identified standards and each project’s timeframes.

In addition, you will have close collaboration with our team in China, New Zealand and USA to execute the tests outside of India.

You will create high-quality reports, and you will have clear spoken and written communication so that our global team can understand the status of testing and any issues arising from test failures.

What you will do:

  • Design (40%) & Testing (60%) of new Electromechanical products sometimes as sole contributor and often as part of a team of contributors.
  • Manage assigned mechanical design projects, adhering to project timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.
  • Perform day-to-day CAD (3D & 2D) activities and design documentation.
  • Product testing (DVT) & Testing proof-of-concepts and prototypes for performance
  • Design and execute comprehensive test plans (Inhouse and external lab) to verify mechanical performance against design specifications, including static and dynamic loading, fatigue testing, environmental testing, and reliability testing.
  • Preparing mechanical mock-ups, Prototypes, Electro-mechanical assemblies, Cable Assemblies and test sample preparation.
  • Analyze test data, identify potential issues, and implement design improvements to address any deficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain test protocols and documentation.
  • Utilize test equipment and instrumentation to collect accurate data (e.g., strain gauges, load cells, data acquisition systems).
  • Drive lab space safety, regulatory and security processes compliance.
  • Failure analysis and root cause identification

Who you are and what you bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher qualification) in Mechanical Engineering
  • 8+ years (with BE / BS) or 6+ years (with Masters) of industry work experience in product design, development & testing.
  • Experience using computer-aided development tools (SolidWorks).
  • Good exposure on UL/IEC and related standards. Experience on UL1741, IL9540, UL 9540A will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in testing below international standards is desirable (butnot limited to).
  • Inverters UL 1741, Electrical connectors UL 6703, UL 9703, EN 60512, EN 60352; Polymers UL 94, UL 746C.
  • Ingress protection IEC 60529/IPXX/NEMA Enclosure standards
  • Hands on is preparing mechanical mock-ups, Prototypes, Electro-mechanical assemblies, Cable Assemblies and test sample preparation.
  • Exposure to maintaining mechanical lab and Equipment’s.
  • Building or sourcing test equipment, fixture design and development.
  • Hands on Experience on testing Electromechanical products for Design Verification
  • Exposure to electrical and electronic testing with knowledge on thermocouple instrumenting and connecting to Data logging equipment for capturing test data.
  • Ability to plan, lead and drive the DVT tasks and activities independently with minimal supervision/oversight.
  • Knowledge of DFMEA and DFR would be an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Good Exposure on plastics, Sheetmetal, casting part design and manufacturing process
  • Good understanding on cable assemblies, ECAD/MCAD integrations
  • Good exposure on structural and thermal design considerations
  • Good Exposure on DFX for high volume production
  • Good exposure on prototype techniques for Design development and verification
  • Experience in SolidWorks and EPDM. Knowledge on any other CAD packages will be an added advantage.
  • Exposure on CAE tools is an added advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) of parts made through injection moulding, sheet metal, stamping, milling/turning
  • Clear communication - verbal and written
  • Experience in the design and sustaining activities on high-volume products (+500k pa) would be a plus and also previous employment in high-power and consumer products industries would be a plus.
