Hourly Rate: $20.64 - $21.89

Location: WD Hill Recreation Center - 1308 Fayetteville Street

Workdays/Hours: Shifts assigned between 7:30 am - 6:00 pm (various depending on program), 

some nights and weekends required

Position assists in the planning, organization, and supervision of School Age Care program activities and sites. Assists with maintaining positive relationships with parents/guardians as well as with local schools and organizations. Incumbent conducts special projects, researches topics, prepares marketing materials, and manages supply inventories. Maintains electronic and web-based resources, develops documentation, and compiles and submits unit reports. Responsibilities also include providing support through ActiveNet software, maintaining activity waitlists, collecting program fees, and managing balance reports among other similar tasks.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assists with the planning and implementation of School Age Care programs and sites as well as providing program coverage to include: After School, Summer Camp, Intersessions and Fun Days.
  • Oversees special projects assigned by the School Age Care supervisors including but not limited to: research of industry trends, marketing projects for the unit, and assisting with inventory and supply management.
  • Researches and assists with development of concepts for special events and activities.
  • Researches new staff training opportunities and assists with implementation.
  • Organizes, files, and distributes unit reports and records using ActiveNet, ePACT, and intranet systems.
  • Assists supervisor with hiring processes.
  • Enters and updates user accounts, program registrations, and fee payments in Active.Net recreation software. Manages program waitlists and accounts receivable.
  • Attends all unit meetings and records minutes.
  • Researches department/unit policies and procedures from various organizations, drafts unit documents and handbooks, and assists with writing unit SOPs.
  • Assists customers by phone and in person with questions regarding programs, accounts, emergency forms, child’s behavior, and program notifications.
  • Facilitates communication between parents and unit staff.
  • Conducts customer and participant surveys and evaluations.
  • Creates activity and staff schedules for Summer Camp, coordinates and assists with the oversight of contractors, and secures transportation.
  • Leads site specific staff and parent orientations for Summer Camp, creates informative communication tools for parents and staff.
  • Monitors facility cleanliness, safety, security, and adherence to policies and standard procedures.
  • Records behavior incident reports and accident reports, sets expectations and addresses behavior, safety and other concerns with both participants and staff.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, child development, recreation administration, business administration, or a related field; 
  • Two (2) years of experience in elementary education, childcare, youth recreation with a minimum of 900 hours verified experience working in a licensed childcare program "or" 1350 hours working in an unlicensed childcare program.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • A valid Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED – with Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Auto Injector Certification within the first six months of employment.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Experience developing, implementing and maintaining youth programs, such as After School, Summer Camp, Intersession, and Fun Day.
  • Experience with school-age care.
  • Available to work the hours of 11:00am-6:00pm with occasional nights and weekends.
  • Work a minimum of 30 hours every week and understand make-up shifts may be required if a scheduled shift is missed.
