Ideal candidates should have a PhD in psychology (clinical, counseling developmental, health, or similar) or a related social science field (e.g., social work, behavioral health). Candidates with research interests and experience in pediatric or AYA psychosocial oncology and/or behavioral interventions for pediatric populations are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Fladeboe to plan and supervise research projects, write manuscripts, and develop grant applications, including an F32 or equivalent proposal. The ideal candidate will have strong publication record; methodological training including quantitative and/or qualitative skills and knowledge of R or other analytic software; and the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and establish rapport with patients and research participants.

Candidates with additional interests in psychoneuroimmunology, biobehavioral outcomes, and/or psychophysiology are also encouraged to apply. Such candidates will have the opportunity for additional mentorship from Dr. Molly Taylor, MD, MS (https://www.seattlechildrens.org/directory/molly-taylor/) and to work on collaborative projects within the Biobehavioral Oncology Research Program (https://www.seattlechildrens.org/research/centers-programs/childhood-cancer/our-labs/biobehavioral-oncology/).

Both labs operate collaboratively within the Behavioral and Clinical Outcomes Research Program (https://www.seattlechildrens.org/research/centers-programs/childhood-cancer/our-labs/bcorp/) through which candidates would have additional mentorship and research opportunities as desired.

In 2022, U.S. News & World Report once again ranked Seattle Children’s among the nation’s best children’s hospitals – for the 30th year in a row. For more than a decade, Seattle Children’s has been nationally ranked in all 10 specialty areas evaluated by U.S. News & World Report. We are honored to be the top-ranked pediatric hospital in Washington and the Pacific Northwest.

Our organizational DNA takes form in our core values: Compassion, Excellence, Integrity, Collaboration, Equity and Innovation. Whether it’s delivering frontline care to our patients in a kind and caring manner, practicing the highest standards of quality and safety, or being relentlessly curious as we work towards eradicating childhood diseases, these values are the fabric of our culture and community. The future starts here.
