Nine-month, full-time, special non-tenure track position. Minimum starting salary $45,499-$56,874, based on experience and education.

Position Description & Details

Are you a leader in construction management and eager to share your knowledge and expertise with the next generation of professionals? Join our team as an Instructor of Practice in Construction Management! This dynamic role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on students while shaping the future of the construction industry.

Position Summary:

The instructor will be responsible for supporting student success through the preparation and delivery of construction management education. Areas of focus will include construction safety, diagrams, building modeling, estimating, project management, surveying, construction contracts and law, as well as construction methods, materials, and equipment. The role emphasizes practical, hands-on applications of construction management principles, preparing students for success in the real world of construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging instruction on topics such as construction safety, estimating, project management, building diagrams, and construction contracts.
  • Ensure students gain practical skills in construction planning, scheduling, and the use of industry-standard software and spreadsheets.
  • Foster a classroom environment that emphasizes industry best practices, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Mentor students, providing guidance and support both in and out of the classroom.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit grades by established deadlines.
  • Participate in committee work, program outreach, and industry collaboration.
  • Support the program's growth and development through collaboration with faculty, staff, and industry partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean and Academic Dean.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate degree in construction management or equivalent and three years non-teaching work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Appropriate bachelor’s degree. 
  • Curriculum development, teaching, and/or training experience.
  • Experience with hands-on teaching methods.
  • Industry-related certifications
