Job Description

Responsibilities: 

1.Designs & develop new products and redesigns existing products to meet customer needs and specifications.

2.Perform / Create / Update product design guidelines, customer standards, and / or analytical reports as assigned.

3.Provide technical support to organizational stakeholders (Production, Quality, Marketing and Sales) and external customers.

4.Investigates and suggests solutions to the Engineering Manager or Directs regarding product related problems.

5.Interface with suppliers to evaluate component specification, new manufacturing techniques, and/or new materials.

6.Compliance and participation in all Smiths Interconnect’s EHS programs, policies, procedures, and training requirements.

7.Participate and contribute to team training, development, mentoring and audits.

8.Demonstrate behaviors consistent with company policies.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent; at least 3-4 years of working experience.
  • Familiar with IC test socket or electrical connector designs is plus.
  • Familiar with the effects of mechanical component design on its functions/performance.
  • Familiar with SolidWorks 3D modeling software or equivalent & understanding GD&T, ANSI/ASME standards.
  • Knowledge of engineering mechanics, material properties, physics and manufacturing methods.
  • Knowledge of electrical theories especially in signal transmission, characterization, and signal integrity (plus only).
  • Experience with Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) or thermal analysis by SolidWorks preferred.
  • Experience on Finite Element Analysis (structural, thermal & fluid) preferred.
  • Attention to detail/self-directed and able to work under normal supervision.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems using data-driven approach and define solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
