UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable full-time Pharmacist to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional pharmaceutical care, ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for our patients.
UPMC has a robust new career ladder for Pharmacists! Pharmacists will be placed in the appropriate title based on experience by the recruitment team and Pharmacy management. The minimum hiring rate for a Pharmacist is $49.54.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with physicians and nurses to clarify unclear, illegible, or incomplete orders.
- Provide drug information and educational programs to healthcare professionals and pharmacy students.
- Utilize computer systems and technologies in the provision of pharmaceutical care.
- Fill prescription orders in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
- Prepare and dispense intravenous admixture solutions using aseptic technique.
- Interpret and evaluate physician orders and prescriptions to dispense appropriate medication dosages.
- Identify and report suspected adverse drug reactions promptly.
- Sustain the formulary by minimizing non-formulary procurements and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
- Review and maintain patient medication records for allergies, drug interactions, and therapeutic duplications.
- Organize daily operational duties and supervise pharmacy technicians, aides, and student interns.
- Adhere to all regulatory requirements, professional standards, and hospital quality management policies.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Pharmacist in the state of Maryland.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
- Proficiency in using pharmaceutical technologies and computer systems.

Qualifications:
- Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy
- B.S in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
- Required: Current licensure as a Pharmacist in practicing state
- Entry Level – no previous experience required; pharmacist experience preferred.
