Job summary

Working within the Technical Accounting team, as Technical Accounting Manager you will be responsible for assessing the correct accounting and budgetary treatment for new programmes and complex transactions, preparing reports and accounting papers to be utilised by staff with varying levels of accountancy knowledge, and will provide a key role in the preparation of the Agency's annual financial statements.

The role will report to the Senior Technical Accounting Manager. In addition to the key responsibilities above, the technical accounting team are dedicated to providing first class technical accounting advice within the Finance team and to the wider business. You will be expected to work in an agile and flexible way, which will also involve collaboration with various teams and directorates. 

There will also be the opportunity to be involved in other key projects, including supporting the development and implementation of new financial software systems and processes.

Person specification

You will be used to "spinning several plates" at once and will always be looking for ways to improve and innovate. As an experienced finance professional, you’ll understand how to work as part of a team in a productive, collaborative and inclusive way. 

You'll be comfortable supporting the Senior Technical Accounting Manager and Assistant Director of Financial Reporting with complex accounting issues.

You will have strong technical accountancy knowledge, including IFRS and excellent report writing skills with the ability to tailor to audiences with varying finance experience.

You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade.

As an experienced finance professional you’ll understand how to manage colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, inclusive way.

You will hold a recognised professional accountancy qualification, such as ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA.
