Position at Samtec, Inc

The Project Engineer collaborates closely with a team of Contract Engineering resources to design & 

develop advanced products while improving communication & connectivity between that group and the Samtec engineering teams. Works under the direction of the Asian Engineering Manager to ensure all Samtec corporate engineering standards are followed.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities

  1. Use experience in Designing and developing interconnects to contribute to design, development, and validation of new connector projects.
  2. Support non-English speaking South Korean engineering team in communication including, participating in online meetings with a range of time zones for interpretation and translation.
  3. Work closely onsite with the Contract Engineering team to ensure schedules are up to date and escalates any schedule conflicts to management.
  4. Ensure the Contract Engineering team adhere to all Samtec engineering standards including but not limited to documentation. file management, part modeling, and part simulation.
  5. Create reports and status updates on project information and present to upper management.
  6. Escalate project risks and issues that could impact projects and carry out response plans determined by management.
  7. The responsibilities as defined are intended to serve as a general guideline for this position. Associates may be asked to perform additional tasks depending on strengths and capabilities.

Required Experience

1. Willing to relocate onsite with the Contract Engineering team.

2. 2 or more years of experience in connector design/manufacturing required.

3. Engineering Design Software: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.

4. Simulation Software: FEA, CFO/Thermal Modeling, etc. is preferred, but not required.

5. Strong project coordination skills in a very diverse environment.

6. Familiar with business practices in the Asia Pacific including Korea and the United States.

7. Fluent in MS Office (specifically PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Visio)

8. Good communicator & collaborator

9. Strong organizational skills

10. Ability to multi-task

11. Be able to deal with ambiguity.

12. Ability to be creative/ innovate

13. Problem solving skills and ability to influence change

Preferred Education

1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
