Join the University of Dayton as an Associate Mechanical Engineer in the UDRI - Nonstructural Materials Division! The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking a talented and driven Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our Nonstructural Materials division. This position will focus on novel erosion testing for the AFRL Erosion Test Facilities at Wright-Patterson AFB, operated and maintained by UDRI. The engineer will provide technical and innovative solutions using sound mechanical engineering practices. This person is responsible for operating, maintaining and upgrading the AFRL subsonic and supersonic rain and particle erosion test apparatus. The AFRL Erosion Test Rigs are unique testing capabilities that evaluate the erosion resistance of advanced aerospace materials. This role supports the execution of DOD and Industry erosion testing, research, development and transition materials technology projects. This engineer will also work with teams to design, develop and test machine hardware and software, customize existing machinery as well as new technologies. The engineer will also be responsible for assisting customers with custom fixture designs to accommodate nonstandard test articles. The person will be working in a laboratory environment and therefore, being a team player and having, flexibility, and attention to detail are key to success.
Minimum Qualifications:
must be able to pass a National Agency Check at the time of hire
and obtain and maintain a security clearance with enhanced measures
