Soni Resources is partnering with a Non-Profit client near Somerset County, NJ, in the search for an Accounts Payable Specialist. This role is responsible for timely processing and recording of all accounts payable transactions, including electronic funds transfers (EFTs), online checks, and manual checks. The ideal candidate will have experience with accounting systems, preferably Sage MIP, and strong analytical skills.
Responsibilities
- Process and record accounts payable invoices, payments, and accruals accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare and analyze the AP Aging report to identify and address potential issues.
- Communicate any irregularities or discrepancies to the Director of Finance or a member of the financial services team.
- Prepare journal entries to record financial transactions.
- Prepare annual 1099 forms for distribution.
- Generate ad-hoc reports for analysis and decision-making as needed.
- Perform filing and other clerical duties as required.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate payment processing.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all supplies and food, categorizing them by use, program/department, movement, volume, value, and other relevant metrics.
- Assist with the actual purchase of supplies and food.
- Coordinate and prepare payments for purchases.
- Escalate any unresolved issues to the supervisor for resolution.
Qualifications
- Experience with an accounting system (ERP), with a preference for Sage MIP.
- Proven experience in processing accounts payable invoices, recording payments, and managing accruals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and HLOOKUPs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of organizational and time-management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with inventory management systems.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Compensation: $24-$31/ Hour
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
