The Lidar division in Valeo R&D (Prague) is seeking a System Engineer who will be a specialist with overall knowledge of the whole system (e.g. HW, SW, mechanics, sensors) and will be part of the development process from very beginning (concept definition) to end of the project (validation, serial production). At any development phase, the LIDAR System Engineer will work in various roles (e.g. advisor, analyst, investigator, developer, problem solver).

The Lidar department of the Valeo R&D Center in Prague is developing the flagship among our sensors: the Valeo SCALA® lidar is the first and still the only mass-produced automotive laser sensor on the market. It can detect obstacles on the road up to a distance of 200 meters and classify them in all weather conditions. It is used by carmakers for their most advanced models such as the Mercedes S-Class, Audi A8 or Honda Legend. Up to 30% of new premium vehicles are to reach level 3 of autonomous driving by 2030, and to do so, they will have to be equipped with lidar technology. We develop hardware, software, optics, mechanical construction, execute system testing and industrialization of this product.

YOUR CHALLENGES?

• Define and develop functions of our smart LIDAR products
• From customer requirements for a product derive system requirements for our product and its function
• Cooperate with SW developers to develop the needed features
• Define/develop validation methods for specified function
• Analyze results of function validation and develop function further based on the results
• Perform engineering assessment of proposed change requests

LET'S TALK ABOUT YOU...

• Bachelor or higher degree in the field of Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Cybernetics, Robotics, Mechatronics, Cybernetics or related disciplines
• Basic experience with Python - mainly for exploratory data analysis / scripting or MATLAB, C/C++
• Experience with development of software or electrical product
• Mathematical background in the area of control theory, tracking, segmentation or similar is an advantage
• Knowledge of reference systems (e.g. LiDAR)
• Good level of English to communicate within international teams
• Driving license - B
