The Forklift Operator/ Unitizer is responsible for picking orders, palletizing, loading and unloading products and/or cases, and working any station or line that is assigned. The Forklift Operator/ Unitizer works anywhere in the Cooler areas that may be assigned.

Shift: Night shift M-F and every other Saturday. 40-50 hours per week

  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain products to be moved.
  • Loads products into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Loads and unloads products onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signals hoisting operator to move load to destination.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area and equipment.
  • Operates industrial truck to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Counts and records number of units of product moved or handled.
  • Ensure proper code date rotation.
  • Stacks products into bundles and bands bundles together.
  • Must keep an accurate tally of product stacked on each pallet plus a running total of each item palletized during the day.
  • Must stack product neatly and orderly on pallets.
  • Must keep assigned area in the freezer/cooler clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Performs other routine warehousing and manual cleaning chores, as need requires.
  • Makes simple adjustments or repairs such as realigning belts or replacing rollers.
  • Counts and records vault inventory periodically.
  • Must follow Fork Lift Safety Procedures as outline in OSHA standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned throughout the cooler

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Clamp Truck Experience a plus
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or, equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. 
  • Minimum 2 years recent experience operating a forklift in a high efficiency environment.
  • Must be able to stand and/or drive for virtually the entire shift. 
  • Experience within the food and beverage industry preferred.
  • Must be able to work in an environment where temperature is maintained at 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit. 
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays.
  • Be able to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screens (including drug, background and criminal checks).
