Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

The agency is seeking an experienced Systems and Security Administrator/Engineer who’s eager to further develop technical solutions and fine tune existing systems. The person in this role will help protect our critical systems and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, and provide timely user support and training when needed.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Position responsibilities:

  • Perform server and endpoint administration tasks, such as, administration and troubleshooting in identity and access management, directory services management, virtual server infrastructure, network services, and resource monitoring.
  • Monitor service delivery using existing management tools, respond to hardware and software issues as they arise. Help build, test, deploy, and maintain servers and services.
  • Monitor network traffic and help maintain desired security posture for the agency. 
  • Assist other teams to identify root cause and provide Tier2 support.

Education:

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field or 8 years of work-related experience.

Equivalent vocational education and experience, along with certification(s), will be considered.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience managing virtualization (VMWare preferred), file servers, web servers, application servers and database servers. 
  • Understanding of current enterprise technologies, backup and recovery procedures, and systems and security performance monitoring tools.
  • Maintenance experience of internal infrastructure requirements, including laptop and desktop computers, switches, VoIP phones, and security updates.
  • Experience in Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools, workstation policy management, vulnerability management, rapid deployment, network policy management, and network segmentation.
  • A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer engineering or a related field or combination of academic and professional experience adding up to 8 years. 
  • Necessary Special Requirements: Ability to obtain and retain a security clearance is a requirement of employment and continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong infrastructure management experience for highly visible and reliable applications.
  • AWS or Azure experience from infrastructure and services perspective
  • SysOps and or DevOps experience.
  • Experience with building and maintaining servers in a cloud or hybrid infrastructure.
  • Strong project management, license management and documentation experience.
