General Summary
Western Michigan University invites applications and nominations for the position of tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in the speech-language pathology program in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. The faculty position is a full-time 9-month appointment with optional summer teaching and has an expected start date of August 15, 2025.

The College: The College of Health and Human Services is located in a 195,000 square foot building with state-of-the-art teaching technologies and spacious research laboratories. The College enrolls over 3,200 students, with more than a third of those at the graduate level. In addition to the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, the College includes programs in blindness and low vision studies, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant, social work, holistic health care, alcohol and drug abuse, interdisciplinary health services, public health, and a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary health sciences. The College has received a number of grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the Department of Education. Department: Both the speech-language pathology program and the audiology programs are ranked in the top 75 programs nationwide. The Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences enrolls approximately 60 students in the two-year M.A. program in speech-language pathology, 130 in the undergraduate major, and supports a minor in American Sign Language. Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences faculty are engaged in active research with students, classroom and clinical teaching through the on-campus Van Riper Language, Speech, and Hearing Clinics, and service to the university and professions. The Department is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Opportunities exist for interprofessional collaborations within the College, across the University, and with the Western Michigan University School of Medicine.
