Individual Lesson Instructors are paid $500/term per student to provide each registered student ten 50-minute lessons during the term and complete other responsibilities of the position. Instructors are paid for all ten lessons, regardless of the students’ attendance. Instructors are not guaranteed an assignment every term.

Times and dates of lessons are to be arranged by mutual consent between the student and instructor. Lessons are offered to students all 4 terms of the academic year. It is preferred that lessons be held on the LCC campus.

Position Purpose:
The Performing Arts Department at Lane Community College requires all music majors to enroll in individual lessons (MUP) each term for a total of six (6) courses. These students must work with a qualified Individual Lesson instructor commensurate with their needs and abilities in their primary instrument/voice. All MUP courses are one-credit courses regardless of level and each course consists of ten 50-minute individual lessons. All incoming students will begin at MUP 100, non-major level. The ultimate goal is to attain 200-level courses by successfully completing level-up juries.

Physical Demands/Working Environment:
This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day.
