Oracle NetSuite has an Engineering & Development team that is responsible for developing all the software, automation, and standards that drive the operational support of NetSuite's Acquired Services. We apply a software engineering attitude to infrastructure and administration problems. We manage this environment by building tools that automate complex tasks that have traditionally been done manually by operations staff, solving them at scale, streamlining the operational process, and eliminating the chance of human error.

In this position you will develop applications supporting a variety of technologies running on Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure. You will build tools that will be used by yourself, your team, and external users in a self-service or empowerment capacity. This includes researching and exploring new options for system administration, database management, monitoring, alerting, logging, containerization, orchestration, and general cloud operations.

This is a Senior Software Developer position, and we are looking for an outstanding developer to join us and lead initiatives to extend our existing tools into new areas within the company and into the cloud. While we are primarily developing using Python, if you have experience with other languages such as Java (Spring), JS (express.js), Ruby (Rails) or similar and are willing to learn Python, we would be excited to speak with you!

Responsibilities:

  • Create and adapt python tools to automate the maintenance and configuration of various technologies, infrastructure, and cloud services
  • Creating self-service tools for operational staff to reduce workload
  • Use Salt, Ansible, Terraform, and other tools to automate provisioning and configuration
  • Enhance automated monitoring and alerting
  • Design CLI and Web interfaces for reporting and maintenance
  • Test new versions of underlying open-source technologies
  • Develop and develop against RESTful web services
  • Provide operational support for software we build and the infrastructure we own
  • Provide leadership for development initiatives 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 1+ years software development experience (Python preferred)
  • Excellent understanding of object-oriented design
  • Strong Linux background
  • Desire to learn and have fun

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with continuous integration workflows
  • Experience with any relational databases (we use MySQL and Oracle)
  • Experience developing software to manage services in a cloud tenancy 
  • Experience developing within containers (we use Docker and Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of web framework (we use Django)
  • Knowledge about API's (we use Django REST)
  • Familiarity with any ORM (we use SQLAlchemy)

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.
