Role Summary 

At ResMed, our New Product Introduction (NPI) Manufacturing team spearheads innovative manufacturing advancements in processes and equipment, to meet NPI requirements, while prioritizing quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. As an NPI Manufacturing Technician, you will be instrumental in supporting all requirements of metrology, assisting Manufacturing and Product teams, and enabling end-to-end delivery of prototyping, as well as the production of jigs and fixtures. 

Let’s Talk About Responsibilities 

As an NPI Manufacturing Technician, you will: 

  • Provide a quality service in supporting and conducting Metrology testing, evaluation, analysis and reporting with manual and computerised measuring systems 
  • Develop proficiency in prototyping techniques in conjunction with agreed longer-term objectives. 
  • Apply Mechanical Trade skills to manufacture components, including the design and construction of appropriate jigs, fixtures, and/or components. 
  • Maintain and continually develop proficiencies in CNC programming and machining capabilities. 
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers in the development of prototype tools and fixtures. 
  • Ensure that all components meet the specified quality standards as stated on the component specification. 
  • Work with other staff to ensure that the Engineering equipment and work environment is maintained to a standard appropriate for the manufacture and supply of medical product prototypes. 
  • Maintain high standards of work safety in relation to WHS. 
  • Maintain high standards of quality of work and services provided to internal customers. 
  • Perform other tasks as requested to assist the business reach and maintain its goals. 
  • Assist in maintaining and ensure calibration compliance of Equipment 
  • Assist in maintaining and where appropriate improve equipment and process procedures 
  • Ability to learn other skills within the team for support based on business requirements 

Let’s Talk About You 

The ideal candidate for this role will have: 

  • A background as a Tradesperson in Toolmaking or Fitter Machinist with relevant experience. 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Experience with CMM, PC DMIS software (CMM), INSPEC software (MicroVu) and/or Digital Image Capture and Manipulation software (Paint Shop Pro) is advantageous 
  • CNC milling certification or equivalent training 
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, Excel and Word 
  • Experience in a prototype-manufacturing environment 
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software
