We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced zOS System Programmer with specialization in HA Sysplex, Connect:Direct, SSH, certificate management, connection troubleshooting, and extensive knowledge of secure connection SSL/TLS troubleshooting to join our team. The successful candidate will manage and optimize our zOS environment, ensuring high availability, security, and efficient system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and administer the zOS environment, ensuring system integrity and optimal performance.
  • Design, implement, and manage HA Sysplex configurations to achieve high availability and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Administer Connect:Direct for secure, reliable, and efficient file transfers across mainframe and distributed platforms.
  • Implement and maintain secure Shell (SSH) protocols and manage digital certificates in the RACF Keyring
  • Provide 24/7 on-call technical support for diagnose and resolve complex connection issues, including troubleshooting SSL/TLS protocols to ensure secure data transmission.
  • Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and enhancements to maintain a secure and up-to-date zOS environment.
  • Monitor system performance metrics and implement tuning adjustments to optimize resource utilization, analysis SMF records or using Omegamon XE for zOS.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams, including network, security, and application development, to ensure cohesive system operations.
  • Provide expert-level support for zOS subsystems, including DB2, CICS, IMS, and MQ, ensuring their optimal performance and availability.
  • Utilize SCLM for source control and software configuration management, ensuring version control and deployment consistency.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX and CLIST to streamline system administration tasks.
  • Manage and optimize system utilities, including DFSORT for efficient data sorting and processing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience in zOS System Programming.
  • Finance industry experience in high-transaction environments

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in configuring and managing HA Sysplex environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Connect:Direct administration.
  • Experience with SSH implementation and certificate management (RACF Keyring).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving connection issues, including SSL/TLS protocols.
  • Familiarity with zOS performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Proficiency in SCLM, REXX, PL/1, Cobol, DB2, CICS, MQ, DFSORT, and iDZ Development Suite.
  • Expert-level support for zOS subsystems, including DB2, CICS, IMS, and MQ.
