Job Summary
This position can be located in any of the Liberty Facilites in New York.
The Fleet Safety Trainer is responsible for ensuring all drivers are trained in company procedures and policies. Also ensuring that all drivers are equipped with the tools and resources needed to follow all safety and transportation regulations. The Fleet Safety Trainer will manage the onboarding process and conduct orientation, as well as assist the safety department in ensuring the drivers are maintaining the high standards set forth by Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages. Additionally, the Fleet Safety Trainer will partner with leaders, employees, and multiple stakeholders to strengthen our safety culture. Assist in developing policies and processes specific to fleet safety which protect our most important assets, our employees, customers, communities, brands, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Partners with the Fleet Safety Manager (as a direct report) and other stakeholders to define, build, monitor, and continuously improve Liberty’s safety culture of “100% safe, 100% of the time.”
- Verifies the comprehensive and universal fleet safety program meets all regulatory and other stakeholder requirements.
- Partners with the Fleet Safety Manager and auto safety leaders (production, distribution, management) to coordinate, facilitate, measure, and develop training tools, processes, and other programs for our drivers to improve safety capability, performance, and culture.
- Partners with the Fleet Safety Manager to develop annual auto safety performance goals for the organization and fleet safety champions.
- Create management routines, audits, and inspections to significantly improve auto safety performance throughout the organization.
- Partners with the Fleet Safety Manager to develop and consequently implement/roll out fleet safety systems, policies, and routines which continuously assess risk, set goals, drive accountability, implement best practices, and monitor/improve fleet safety performance.
- Partners with the Fleet Safety Manager to create fleet safety metrics, measurements, scorecard, and reporting to significantly improve fleet safety performance.
- Provide driver coaching on all known road conditions, steep grades, ice, snow, mud, gravel, lease roads, highway, and night.
- Track performance and provide identified retraining and process improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate, plan, classroom/field training, and conduct driver coaching and documents evaluations.
- Determinate employees driving abilities and competency.
- Conduct employee assessments to develop and when required communicate a development plan for current or new hire employees with management.
- Leverages fleet safety data, telematics, assessments, and observations to identify risks, hazards, and root causes to prevent incidents and injuries within the production setting.
Qualifications
- Class A driver’s license is required.
- Satisfactory driver’s Motor Vehicle Record required.
- 1-3 years of driver training experience required (4-5 years preferred)
- Must have knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of Federal/State FMCSA regulations and other relevant government and industrial standards.
- Must have knowledge with electronic logging systems.
- Heavy haul or unique driving experience is a plus.
- Field and classroom facilitation experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Power Point) a plus.
- Hazardous Materials Transportation experience a plus.
- Travel 50%-75% of time; some overnight required.
