Responsibilities

  • This candidate must have strong skills related to Tier 1 and 2 storage technologies from EMC, HP, IBM, and Network Appliance. Knowledge of Brocade and IBM fiber channel technologies is preferred. This position will be part of a team that will provide operational support as well as participate in some project activities. Responsibilities will include; ensuring that storage systems are running smoothly, provisioning storage, deploying new systems, troubleshooting access/performance problems, and assessing storage needs from other internal IT groups. 
  • Experience building new environments for an internal enterprise application 
  • Solid working knowledge of SQL and Oracle Technologies. 
  • Solid understanding of virtual server technologies 
  • Overall understanding of the storage technologies and environments 
  • Accountability and responsibility of the storage services infrastructure and integrity 
  • Service delivery and operation of storage devices 
  • Monitoring and maintenance 
  • On-Call interaction with Infrastructure teams to resolve issues 
  • Escalation and ownership of technical issues for communication and engagement 
  • Work directly with vendors and technical resources on projects and support 
  • Provide process driven service delivery through documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Primary focus on innovation and automation of storage services for efficiency 
  • Leadership with technology teams on service delivery and solutions which require storage 
  • Upgrade, firmware, and patch management 
  • Time based reporting including health, activity, and status 
  • Capacity and performance management 
  • Train new employees in operational storage management and job acclamation 
  • Lead large and strategic level enterprise wide implementations from initiation to completion. 
  • Mentor to level 1 and 2 resources 
  • Remote eligible.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years SAN/NAS Storage Engineering and Operations knowledge 
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, Solaris, AIX, HPUX.
  • Proven understanding of storage protocols including fiber channel, ISCSI, NFS, and NDMP
  • Possesses a good understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts; understands principles of routing, client/server programming, and the design of consistent network-wide file system layouts and have the ability to program in an administrative language so that automated scripts for the Storage environment can be set up. 
  • Experience with Data Replication technologies. 
  • Experience with Storage Virtualization preferred 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building-skills 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule, and meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to support the strategic direction of the business at all times 
  • Superior experience in customer support of storage related technologies 
  • Superior troubleshooting and process methodologies for issue resolution
  • Storage commissioning and decommissioning 
  • Superior knowledge of tiered storage in a corporate and distributed environment 
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks 
  • Superior verbal and communication skills 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule, and meet deadlines. 
  • Proven competency of common tools associated with infrastructure, MS Office, Exchange, ticketing tools, device connectivity, PowerPoint, and Visio 
  • Superior interpersonal and relationship skills 
  • Ability to incorporate cost analysis in solutions and relate to budget expectations. 
  • Proven understanding of network infrastructure and protocols 
  • Solid understanding of data replication and disaster recovery technologies 
  • Ensure communication and support escalations from within the team 
  • Ability to lead level one and two team members in service delivery 
  • Compose and deliver presentation related to storage solutions, operations, and infrastructure 
  • Superior ability to listen and deliver constructive responses 
  • Review data provided by team members associated with project solutions. Provide constructive feedback to ensure the success of the overall team service delivery expectations .
