Position Information

This is a part-time or temporary non-benefited position.

The NDSU Dickinson Research Extension Center is seeking someone to fill our summer IPM Field Scout position. Learn how to scout field crops for insect pests and diseases. The scout will survey wheat, barley, canola, sunflower, alfalfa and pulse crops in the SW region of North Dakota. Field equipment, state fleet vehicle and per diem are provided when traveling. Minimum salary will be $16.00 per hour and up depending on experience. IPM scout will also have the opportunity to work with NDSU scientists and specialists on various research projects throughout the summer. Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with an optional start date of May 1, 2025 and end date of August 15, 2025 respectively. 

This position is based in Dickinson, ND. Summer housing is available if needed.

Minimum requirements:

  • Age 18+
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Demonstrated computer skills
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Effective written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Essential that candidate work until August 15, 2025
  • Must complete background check

The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Employee will be required to check in/out each day on the HCM employee self-service timeclock portal.
