As the Sr. Quantitative Analyst, you will report directly to the CIO and will lead advanced research and business intelligence initiatives, producing actionable insights that directly support the firm’s strategic investment decisions in commercial real estate. This role involves utilizing rigorous quantitative methods, sophisticated engineering techniques, and deep market knowledge to drive smarter sector and property-level decisions.
- Business Intelligence and Quantitative Research Oversight: Direct the development and implementation of the company’s dashboard, ensuring KPI identification and alignment with organizational goals. Maintain rigorous quality control standards to ensure the accuracy and credibility of research outputs.
- Team Management: Oversee and manage the team responsible for executing business intelligence and quantitative research functions across the organization.
- Project Leadership: Scope, define, and lead research initiatives with specific deliverables and timelines, actively contributing to a cohesive strategic research roadmap.
- Develop Quantitative Research Systems: Architect and implement robust quantitative models to inform commercial real estate investment strategies.
- Portfolio Optimization: Design, develop, and implement portfolio optimization tools to analyze and enhance performance across diverse real estate markets.
- Signal Detection: Uncover key signals that predict market performance, utilizing advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to sift meaningful insights from data.
- Model Training and Forecasting: Build and refine time series forecasting and cross-sectional ranking models across regions and property types to construct risk-aware model portfolios.
- Automate and Scale Processes: Collaborate with engineering teams to automate workflows and support scalability through cloud computing, data engineering best practices, and software development.
- Effective Communication: Simplify complex quantitative insights for investment teams (analysts, portfolio managers, executives) to foster buy-in and utilization of analytical outputs.
- Reporting and Presentation: Draft reports and presentations for senior leadership, presenting findings at REIT and investment committee meetings.
- Data Subscription Management: Oversee data subscriptions and ensure effective utilization across research projects.
- Additional Responsibilities: Engage in related duties as required to support the quantitative research and investment processes.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Membership: Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple-worthy.
- Educational Background: BS/MS in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance).
- Experience: 3-5+ years in quantitative research and portfolio optimization.
- Technical Expertise: Proficient in probability, statistical inference, time series forecasting, and machine learning; skilled at distinguishing signal from noise in complex datasets.
- Programming Proficiency: Strong Python skills with experience in data science libraries (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn).
- Cloud Computing: Proficiency in cloud platforms, particularly Azure, for data processing and model deployment.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Finance and Investing: Experience in quantitative research in financial markets; real estate experience is a plus.
- Portfolio Construction: Proven success in building end-to-end portfolio optimizers in multi-asset or multi-sector contexts, including geographic diversification (e.g., municipal bonds by region).
- Advanced Portfolio Optimization Techniques: Familiarity with Black-Litterman models, hierarchical methods, and machine learning-driven portfolio optimization.
