• JOB SUMMARY
  • Specializes in diagnosis and treatment of speech, language and voice problems as related to human communication, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of dysphagia.
  • DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
  • Performs evaluation on patients referred in a timely manner and formulates diagnoses based on assessment findings.
  • Establishes individualized treatment plan and goals based on diagnostic testing.
  • Provides treatment for those communication areas found to have deficit during the evaluation.
  • Completes documentation according to practice setting guidelines.
  • Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to identify needs and continued services once discharged from current level of care.
  • EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum requirement:
  • Master’s Degree in the field of Speech/Language Pathology
  • Maintains active ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech Language Pathology, or if in Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), obtained when meets ASHA requirements for certification.
  • Current active Speech Pathology license in the State of Kentucky and other states as required. Interim license status accepted if in Clinical Fellowship Year.
  • Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Preferred qualifications:
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • Constantly works near moving mechanical parts
  • Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection. 
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting).
  • Frequently required to walk and move about.
  • Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.
  • Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
  • Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
  • Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Occasionally required to position self in order to meet patient needs.
