Position Summary:

Oversee management of all areas of Manufacturing (machining, auxiliary processes, assembly, etc.) to produce products and direct activities so that approved products are manufactured on-schedule, within quality standards and cost objectives, with a safety and service orientation. Organizational chart includes operations, engineering, quality, and master planning.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop specific service group strategies and objectives to support the company’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Monitor the implementation of action plans to achieve business objectives.
  • Recruit, motivate and develop a professional management staff. Ensure development of managers through counseling, mentoring and training. Develop appropriate succession plans for critical roles.
  • Monitor service group budget to ensure compliance with plan within the operating guidelines.
  • Execute an operational cost saving plan in alignment with the corporate finance team.
  • Maintain appropriate knowledge/expertise regarding leading edge techniques, strategies, and industry trends.
  • Establish and maintain interdepartmental relationships to create opportunities for positive collaboration
  • Leverage Director peers to ensure consistency and instill organizational change.
  • Formulate and recommend manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
  • Direct and monitor department managers to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.
  • In partnership with the Corporate Continuous Improvement team, execute the yearly capital portfolio.
  • As a leader, you are expected to know, enforce, and appropriately escalate all Swagelok associate policies.

Approximate # of direct reports (if applicable) – 5-10 direct reports span of control up to 1000 associates Budget responsibility (if applicable) – Responsible for service group budget, typical business unit responsible for 3-6 operations and between $500M-$750M 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree required. Stronger candidates will demonstrate a learning orientation through continuous education and study in non-traditional areas.
  • A history of developing managers and directors with a focus on both transactional and transformational responsibilities.
  • Highly collaborative with an ability to work cross-functionally across a matrixed organization.
  • Have 15+ years of relevant industry and/or functional experience (e.g., discrete manufacturing) and progressive leadership
  • Demonstrated history of understanding manufacturing challenges and processes as they relate to engineering, production, and supply chain constraints.
  • Strong exposure to and experience with complex and highly engineered products.
