This position provides supervision for University of Utah Health procedural areas for radiation safety, equipment and products.. This role serves to consult, advise, and recommend best practices within the specialty area in an effort to improve the overall patient experience, quality of care and reduce cost to both the patient and the organization. The incumbent supports in the management of the operations and strategic planning of human resources, patient services, and financial management for their assigned specialty area. The incumbent will coordinate and strategically align their team with the PROMISE standards set forth by organizational leadership and provide insight into a variety of patient experience outcomes, making recommendations for improving performance as it relates to the service line. This position will also collaborate with multiple levels of leadership across the organization to ensure the management and maintenance of all equipment in the clinical unit. This position directs radiation safety for the team members and patients in this area. This position participates in equipment, products/supplies purchases and evaluations for the clinical area. The department uses state-of-the-art technology and provides clinical expertise in a complete range of services including, but not limited to, vascular, oncology, neurology, neurosurgery, musculoskeletal, cardiac, breast, and women's health. The Interventional team performs an array of minimally invasive interventions in the care of patients. The team and their staff work collaboratively on an inter-disciplinary team of neurologists, cardiologist, anesthesiologist oncologists, and surgeons on difficult and complex cases, leveraging cutting-edge treatment options that are safer and more cost-effective than some traditional surgeries.

Responsibilities

• Performs to required standards for job specific responsibilities and technical competencies.
• Manages radiation safety including but not limited to, radiation reduction initiatives for team members and patients, education, policy/protocol, standardized annual lead checks
• Oversee education and competencies with correct usage of lead, dosimeters, Geiger counters & other lead accessories.
• Responsible for managing and maintaining the unit specific clinical equipment including but not limited to, attending service meetings with all contracted service providers, assists with equipment procurement forecasting, vetting future equipment technologies, scheduling PMs and following up with equipment repairs with service providers. Liaison between other departments for equipment borrowing and Biomed services.
• Demonstrates effective management of all equipment and products in the clinical unit including standardizing and optimizing usage, vendor management, participates and is a voting member in VAT, case support and supply management process.
• Manages product trials and helps with research products within procedural spaces.
• Participates in hiring, training, mentoring, developing, and communicating with staff.
• Assist in developing, monitoring, and achieving budget goals for repairs, supplies, and PPE.
• Supports patient satisfaction scores within assigned area(s).
• Supports upholding PROMISE standards of direct reports and team members.
• Supports for achieving quality goals for assigned area(s).
• Supports and promotes continuous process improvements in assigned area(s)
• Supports assisting in providing staff feedback on performance, including on-time appraisals and coaching.
• Support controlling conflicts proactively and to reach resolution in a timely manner.
• Forms positive relationships with staff, peers, and senior leadership to support the mission, vision, values, and performance standards of the organization.
• Assist engaging staff with updates and news and in decisions and work teams. Provides feedback and recognition when appropriate.

• Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual
• Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
• Knowledge of the assigned department's area of specialization to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent
• Five (5) years of experience in Interventional Radiology or subspecialties (Cardio, Neuro, Vascular or Oncology)

Licenses Required

• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Current licensure to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Utah.
• Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
• ARRT Registration for Vascular Interventional Radiography R.T. (VI)(ARRT).
• Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.
