Performs a variety of data management functions for the support of the HIM Department. Collects, organizes and reviews data on a routine basis. Presents results in a logical and organized format. Prepares monthly statistical information for performance tracking and improvement. Assures that relevant hospital information is accurate and timely by consistent review, monitoring, compiling data and performing any necessary revisions across interfaces. Assures Continuity of Care information is disseminated to next provider of care. Uses several electronic hospital EMR's to analyze and assign documentation deficiencies to facilitate accurate completion in accordance with Capital Health, hospital accreditation body, CMS and Department of Health regulations. Performs other patient care release of information and management support duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma with required experience, Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management, or Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management.
Experience: One year data analysis or a combination of data analysis experience and HIM experience/training.
Other Credentials:
Knowledge and Skills: Proficient in document validation. Ability to manipulate data from various systems. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Proficient knowledge of detailed privacy regulations - HIPAA, Corporate Compliance and NJ Department of Health. Proficient in the use of multiple EMR systems.
Special Training: Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook. Bi-Lingual preferred.
Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Ability to work independently and as a team member showing positive outcomes within specific timeframes. Able to adjust to department needs by multitasking and covering different areas at any given time.
