Overview

Summary

The Data Center Engineer III implements Data Center solutions projects based on Cisco, VMware and other major DC technologies. Assignments include consulting, implementing, documenting, migrating datacenter solutions and leading other Data Center engineers.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Works with customers and Data Center Solutions architects in planning and designing highly successful Data Center environments
  • Works with customers to align technology to their business opportunities and needs in context of their Data Center strategy
  • Assists in delivering consulting engagements, working with distributed sales teams along with deployment team members
  • Demonstrates command of the Data Center technologies and other ecosystem solutions
  • Masters a deep technical knowledge and possesses the communication skills and organizational agility to guide customers through Data Center integration projects, and must also be able to perform the hands-on technical solution design work independently
  • Utilizes knowledge of architectural design and documentation
  • Stays current with Data Center technologies (compute, storage, Data Center switching and Virtualization)
  • Stays current with Data Center manufacturers’ programs and promotions
  • Demonstrates customer facing and presentation skills
  • Delivers high-level design documentation
  • Documents business, information, application and technology aspects of approach
  • Leads complex large projects

Additional Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Travels to customer locations, conferences, meetings and events as needed
  • Excellent verbal / written communication skills
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed for critical functions

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BAs degree in IT or related field (Industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of documented corporate IT experience in Datacenter solutions is required
  • Candidate must also have excellent communication, interpersonal, troubleshooting and customer service skills
  • Additionally the candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple projects at once
  • Solid Experience in VMware product suite (ESXi, vCenter, VDI, and vRealize) include deployments, administration and troubleshoot)
  • Solid Experience in major Storage platforms (EMC, NetApp, Pure) including deployments, administration and troubleshoot.
  • Solid Experience in major Compute platforms (Cisco UCS, HP, Dell) including deployments, administration and troubleshoot.
  • Current CCNP or VCAP (Deploy) certification
  • Strong skills in Data Center networking with extensive experience around either Nexus, ACI, NSX or other major DC Networking platforms.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • VMware NSX experience is a plus
  • Cisco ACI experience is a plus
  • AWS experience and certification is a plus
  • Storage networking (MDS, Brocade) experience is a plus
  • Python, Powershell and other scripting experience a plus
  • CliQr, vRA or UCSD experience a plus
  • IT Consulting/ VAR experience a plus
